As you’ve seen in our Nature Blog thus far, wildlife on the Broads is plentiful. The wetlands here are an ideal habitat for many UK native species and it is estimated that the Broads is home to 25% of the UK’s rarest species.
Whilst on the water or at the water’s edge you can be sure to experience some of this wildlife for yourself. If birdwatching is your thing then your time will be happily spent searching for Kingfishers, Cormorants or maybe even the rare Bittern.
What you will see depends on the time of year, the time of day and where you choose to explore. Some of the creatures that are at home on the Broads are happy to be seen, others more coy at busier times of the day.
If you are particularly interested in seeing a certain something, whether it is flora or fauna, one of our friendly members of staff will be happy to advise you on the best area to do so, in their experience.
We’ve put together a list of the Broads Big Six, which includes six of the best species to find on the Broads, how many will you spot?
