Choosing Your Perfect Cruiser

Choosing your perfect holiday cruiser with us couldn’t be easier.  We have a large selection of cruisers at our boatyard here in Wroxham that cater for couples up to large groups of 11 people, so whatever your party size, you can find exactly the right cruiser for your Norfolk Broads boating holiday.  We also offer a variety of styles of cruisers to suit your individual requirements.
Please be aware, Norfolk Broads Direct require a minimum of 2 adults to be staying on each cruiser.

 

Size Matters

Choose your cruiser to comfortably accommodate all of your party.  You will notice that on each cruiser description the maximum number of beds is stated.  For example, Fair Executive sleeps 2-4 meaning that 2 people sleep in the forward cabin and 2 people can sleep in the saloon, your living area by day and sleeping area by night.
Please be aware, Norfolk Broads Direct require a minimum of 2 adults to be staying on each cruiser.

 

 Gradings

Visit England and the British Marine Federation assess all boatyards across the country to ensure that high standards are delivered to boat hire customers. There is also a secondary optional assessment of each boat within a hire fleet to provide a grading for quality and available facilities. Norfolk Broads Direct have achieved a Quality Accredited Boatyard accreditation and each of our cruisers have been assessed as either 4* or 5*. This reflects the overall standard and quality, not only of our boatyard’s overall service but of each and every cruiser that we have in our fleet. Our Premier Cruisers take even 5* boats to a new level! We hope that this recognition of quality will help you to make a confident choice with Norfolk Broads Direct.

Types of Holiday Cruiser

Dual Steering Cruisers

Dual steering cruisers have an inside steering position and an outside steering position on the upper deck usually reached by a set of steps.  These cruisers look very modern and attractive and it’s great to have a choice of steering positions.  Many of our dual steering cruisers have seating and a table on the top deck making them suitable for alfresco dining for the whole family.
Our dual steering cruisers are; Fair Marquess, Fair Commodore, Fair Royale, Fair Entrepreneur, Fair Monarch, Fair President, Fair Sovereign, Fair Commissioner, Fair Admiral, Fair Statesman & Fair Emperor.

Central Steering Cruisers

Cruisers with a raised central steering position tend to have a sliding canopy, the operation of which will be explained to you fully when you take over the boat.  These cruisers are great for families allowing the whole family to be together in the saloon area with the helmsman as he navigates the cruiser.
Our central steering cruisers are; Fair Jubilee, Fair Executive, Fair Prince, Fair Ambassador, Fair Chancellor, Fair Countess, Fair Majesty and Fair Empress.

Forward Steering Cruisers

Boats with forward steering tend to be all on one level making them suitable for people with mobility problems. These boats are generally low enough to pass through all of the bridges on the broads and some have split sliding roofs that open over the seating area for those sunny days!
Our forward steering cruisers are; Fair Princess, Fair Regent, Fair Viscount, Fair Duchess and Fair Duke.

Aft Steering Cruisers

Cruisers with an Aft Cockpit have a folding canopy rather like a convertible car, so when the weather is good you can lower the canopy and take advantage of the sunshine and even enjoy open air dining, but of course there is an interior saloon available if the weather changes!
Our aft steering cruiser is the Fair Senator, this boat is particularly suitable for angling.

Bow Thrusters

Bow thrusters are fitted to many of our hire cruisers. These will bring the boat around without moving forward or backwards, making manoeuvring and mooring easier.  Not essential but a very useful addition to assist you to moor your cruiser when there is limited space or you don’t have any willing crew members on board to step off with the ropes.
