Norfolk Broads Direct has been celebrated as a finalist in the prestigious Eastern Daily Press Hoseasons Tourism Awards 2016. The glitzy black tie event, which hosted more than 200 guests at Potters Resort in Hopton recently, recognised Norfolk’s fantastic tourism industry across 12 categories.
Norfolk Broads Direct was delighted to be shortlisted as one of just three finalists in the Broads National Park Tourism Business of the Year Award – sharing the stage with Waveney River Centre in Burgh St Peter and Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden in South Walsham.
While Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden won the category overall, the evening was a great celebration for all three companies,.
Norfolk Broads Direct director Barbara Greasley said: “The awards were a wonderful evening, which we were delighted to be part of. We would like to offer our congratulations to our friends at Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden.”
The Eastern Daily Press Hoseasons Tourism Awards were a double cause of celebration for Barbara, who is Treasurer and former Chair of Broads Tourism, a destination management organisation promoting the Broads National Park, which was recognised in the final accolade of the evening.
Broads Tourism has worked closely with the Broads Authority (the public body that manages the Broads) to effectively promote the Broads National Park and the success of this partnership earned the two organisations the coveted Hoseasons Outstanding Contribution Award.
The judges said: “The Broads Authority and Broads Tourism are shining examples of what is possible through partnership working. Together, representing public and private examples, they were the driving force in the campaign for the Broads to be given National Park branding last year.
“And they work tirelessly to provide a strong unified voice for all Broads-connected business. They are a group of individuals whose collective efforts to promote the region’s tourism really have put Norfolk – and specifically the Broads National Park – on the map”.
Outstanding Achievement Award: Representitives from Broads Tourism and the Broads Authority with Barbara Greasley (second right) and Karen Longdin (Right) of sponsors Hoseasons.
Norfolk Broads Direct has scooped other accolades this year too, being named the ‘Best Hoseasons Boatyard on the Broads’ at the National Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony in London. The trophy was presented by TV personality Vernon Kay!
