Looking for a couples break in Norfolk? The Norfolk Broads offers the perfect romantic getaway. You can choose from our cosy waterside properties, or enjoy relaxed days exploring the waterways on our holiday cruisers.
Which boat is best for couples?
We have plenty of boats that suit just two, all of which can be viewed on our Norfolk Broads Cruiser pages, but our personal favourites for couples are the Fair Consort and the Fair Marquess, both of which are recent additions to the fleet. Boasting luxury interiors and spacious living spaces they are the perfect base to explore the Norfolk Broads.
What if we have never been boating before?
That’s fine! We welcome first time boaters on a regular basis, so we are well versed in ensuring you have everything you need to get started. We provide video guides for you to follow upon arrival to ensure you are familiar with the controls and how to moor up before you get underway. Our friendly team are available to offer guidance should you need it and our modern fleet is very user friendly.
If you have never been boating before, a couples break on board one of our fleet provides the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill together and allows the time to reconnect.
Why should you choose the broads for a couples holiday?
Relaxing days on the water, stopping off at local pubs and restaurants along the banks, daytime walks around the Broads and alfresco dining. The Norfolk Broads is made for romantic breaks and peaceful getaways. Whilst our boats do of course have WiFi onboard, a boating holiday is the perfect excuse to put down technology for a while, put day to day worries to one side and just make the most of your time together.
What to do during your Broads holiday?
There are lots of great places to visit during a boating holiday starting from our base in Wroxham. Here are some of our favourites options to factor into your holiday itinerary:
- Visit How Hill
With lots of accessible moorings How Hill is a favoured nature reserve, complete with a small museum of a Traditional Marshman’s Cottage. Renowned for offering educational visits, you may not be aware of the other offerings How Hill boasts. From regular events, such as yoga, outdoor theatre and wherry sailing to the exploration of its very own “secret garden”. Should your holiday become “the three of you”, dogs are welcome in most areas too!
- Enjoy a taste of English wine and food by the riverside
Just over a mile from the moorings at the Ferry House pub in Surlingham you will find Winbirri Vineyard, an award winning wine producer offering Vineyard tours and tasting sessions. After your visit be sure to stop by the Ferry House, namely to soak up some of that wine! The team at the Ferry offer great food, a friendly welcome and free moorings to their patrons.
- Hire a canoe, kayak or paddle board.
Moor up your cruiser and explore the delicate and shallow waterways that are only accessible by smaller vessels. Get competitive and see who’s skills fair best on a paddle board or join forces in a canoe.
- Enjoy alfresco dining with a view
We believe that alfresco dining onboard your cruiser is amongst some of the best in the world, and it needn’t mean cooking! There are many restaurants and bars offering takeaways and even deliveries to moorings right now, including the Waveney Inn at Waveney River Centre next to the beautiful Carlton Marshes. Moor up early to grab the best view and enjoy watching the world go by with a glass of wine in hand.
- Spend a day reliving your childhood again at the seaside
Head to Great Yarmouth for a day of reminiscing. Enjoy the offerings of the promenade, eat a little too much ice cream and dip your toes in the sea. From here you can also access and experience travelling across the huge expanse of water and conservation area that is Breydon Water.
